There's a few things I'd like to do to the Motor, whilst I'm banned. ;-( only 4 weeks hopefully.) 102 on the A3....;-(

One is to have the Engine Mounts renewed as apparently this makes the car a much smoother and quieter beast.

Second is to replace the bonnet soundproofing.

Thirdly is to replace the bushes.

Will the above be worth the effort on a 300CE 12V which has had a mostly pampered life.

Will I notice the effort and money spent or just leave it as is.

Cars done 125k

If there is noise and vibration then yes, it will make it feel like a new car. Engine mounts and bushes especially. Go for it, it will give you something to be chuffed about when you get back on the road.
Bummer about the ban. Hope it goes quickly for you.

Cheers !!

yeah hopefully. a short ban. there's a website speeding vs fines. interesting reading.

my chance to be a chav for a day at the magistrates court.

trouble with Motorbikes. 100mph feels like 50.

And I endangered so many lives, risked so much, did such a truly awful deed, i fI was the judge I'd castrate to minimise the risk of reoffending, ten years of community service to prevent me from driving too !

I have only been driving a couple of years and I got flashed by a camera before my 2 year probation was over. So for a year I was driving about in constant fear of losing my license and having to retake the test. Not a good feeling! But it has taught me to take it easy, I drive like a grandad now.

I got new ball joints put in last week.......made a huge difference, like a new car. The soundproofing and engine mountings are also very important, if in doubt replace them even thoguh they cost, its well worth it.

I want to do mine but funds do not permit, ho hum. One of the 190es I looked at when buying had new engine mounts and was smooth as silk. Shame the rest of the car practically had barnacles on it!

that was a boat! you can tell boats as they feel very smooth but have barnacles on them..now washing up liquid gets barnacles off a treat....i think you should be on marine section.

Don't patronise me!
I know the difference.
Can anyone tell me why the outboard on my 190e keeps stalling when I pull away from the quay?
Also one of the wheel bearings on my yacht seems to smell of lemon and has bubbles coming out of it. I can't do a thing with it.
