TMC on sat Nav /command

Does anyone know when the TMC signalling is going to be switched on in the U.K? As I undestand it when activated, traffic delays will show up on the sat Nav screen. The last I heard the parties involved, presumably Merc were negotiating with some radio stations.

Thanks.

Good question m8. I have been trying to find this out as well. I have emails the Service centre, who said "we don't know, contact your local dealer". I phoned up my local dealer and the they scratched their heads and said "we don't know, suggest you email the manager". I emailed the manager 2 weeks ago and not even a courtesy reply.

Just have to wait I guess.

TMC is already active but MB COMAND using Navteq cannot read it. you will need to purchase an upgraded disk when it becomes available next year. if you go abroad woth your current disk it will do TMC but not in the uk yet.

the signal is put out on Classic FM channel.

TMC Been Waiting for a year

I ordered my E in Oct 04, spoke with the head office, they said that the disc I get will already be enabled and that by the time I get my car in January (05), it would be on. It is now 12 months later and I am still waiting. They also said that for the first 3 years there will be no charge. I assume that one year waiting for it will be taken out of the 3 years??

Thank you for contacting the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center on 31st March 2006, whereby you have requested information regarding TMC.

Please be advise that the COMAND disc containing the info that allows TMC to be functional in the UK, should be available in June.

Should you have any further requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Disks are available now. There are two versions of comand depending on what car you have. For the A, B, and C class it is version 6.1, data provided by tele atlas. I believe version 5 is the latest for the other range, data suppled by navteq. Both have TMC enabled for the UK. However, getting hold of the 6.1 disk is difficult in the uk as many dealers do not know of its release. It is available from the german market and you may have to contact the Liepzig dealer in germany. For more info, see the following link

http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=24977&page=2e info, look at the other forum, link is below.

I have an E270 with COMAND and last week I had the version 5 disk installed. It works a treat and has already saved me time. The thing I wanted to make people aware of was that one garage wanted to charge me an hour's labout to "flash" the system, which I thought was a ****** cheek. So I phoned another who were happy to do it without charge, which only took 15-20mins.

Comand V6.1

Hi,
just got myself a CDI 220 with v4 software for the Sat Nav. I've noticed that 6.1 has started to apear on E-Bay (one went for just over 50 quid today) Anyone got any experience of whether these are dodgy copies (surely wouldn't work would they?) or cheapo genuine imports?
cheers

Dave

I bought one of these 6.1 disks off ebay for £30 about 6 or 7 weeks ago, i installed it with no problems and it updated my firmware. The TMC is working fine, i get lots of red and yellow car symbols on the nav map when there is traffic build up. i also get a list of traffic reports in text that i can scroll through. I must admit i haven't tested the route guidance to see if it will re-route around any traffic jams. But overall, i have had no problems and am very pleased with it.

You did well getting it for £30 - I watched a whole bunch of them a few wks ago and they all sold for around the £140 mark.

The re-route function got me out of a 3 mile traffic jam last week. Very useful.
