Good morning.

I have just sold my CLK on Friday evening; loved the car, but just couldn't get rid of the numbness : (

I want another MB, and have been looking at C Class Coupes.

My issues is, what to do?! Do I go for another 100 000 mile+ older Merc that I may lose money on, lease something, or move away from MB altogether and get a boring workhorse.

I lost £1000 on my CLK, so I'm really wary. I have a budget of £6000-£6200.

Any advice greatly received.

Many thanks,

Neil

When you say you lost £1,000 how long did you have it for and how many miles did you use it?

You'll lose a lot less money on an older car than any of the newer ones

I'd go for a late V6 petrol M272 (post balance shaft issues) and enjoy it... (it's what I've done)

I had the CLK from mid-August 2020 and have just sold it. Put about 6000 miles on it.

When you say a M272 V6, which model are you referencing?

You’ll always loose money moving a car on that quickly with that mileage increase no matter what you buy.

the M272 is a petrol engine fitted to many models

Mercedes have put the M272 V6 in 3.0 or 3.5 ltr size into a range of body shapes including C, CLK, E, SLK - with 280, 300 or 350 badges. Find a bodystyle that you like/want/need and then do a search on autotrader

Rather depends on how you bought the car but the difference in trade and retail will be greater than £1000 any way so take solace in the fact that you didn't do too bad considering the mileage difference and time scale. :)

Over a longer period the mileage you were covering would have affected the price quite acutely anyway, 36,000 miles annually is pretty significant to the re-sale value of any car no matter what is is.
