To Service Or Not To Service

Hey chaps,

My service B is due in 4700 miles (supposedly). As most of you know, i've just bought the CLK230 last week.

MB inform me that the service B costs £460 (plus Vat I think). I know that it is really straightforward to reset the service indicator in the car and I'm wondering what the thoughts are?

According to the service history, the car was last done at 75k in 2005 and it's currently on 101k. 4700 miles to go until service - surely the math isn't correct?

What's involved in a Service A & Service B? Anything to write home about? This is my first Auto Box and I've no idea how to maintain it or how to diagnose potential problems.

Something wrong there - the car would never do that mileage between services and ASSYST will call for a service at maximum 2yrs even if the car does very low mileage.

Jet black with iron filings i'd imagine!!

Unless it's been serviced at a random garage? I have the details of the last owner, might be worth giving him a call.
