has it been removed.....my thinking is that it will have to get up to a certain value or it wont sell anyway.....they probably are just seeing what it may fetch....
There is alot of Identity theft going on with ebay at present and cars are a good target for a scam.
The way it usually works is that you see a decent car at a silly start price from a member with a good feedback score. (his identity has been nicked)
Then after a couple of days or even hours the auction has ended early or ebay has pulled it.
Then you will get an e-mail from the seller who has just moved to Poland, bulgaria etc., and has the car with him. The sob story will be very ill wife, father mother who wanted to die in the father land.
They have taken it off ebay because of the high comission charges etc and they will ship the car back to you no problem once you have paid for it...(the shipping cost which they will deduct from the sale price).
I have had this 3 or 4 times now as i often bid on cars that are now where near market price just in case there is a bargain to be had.
Scams are rife this days - someone has sent me a cheque at work for £10,000 for some computer gear to be shipped to uganda - totally out of the blue, i binned it as usual....
The latest variation on any scam is the method of payment. We are always nervous about dealing reasonable high values with new custies at a distance.
Customer will tell you that he will wire the money into your account in the next couple of days and you can check with your bank when in and then ship the goods. Now electronic transfer is one way only and a safe as safe can be right? Well yes it is but, the scammer writes a nicked cheque to you and then pays it in at a branch of your bank somewhere in the uk with a standard bank paying in slip. (you have given him your sort code and account ref so that he can bacs the payment). You check your account and hey presto the money is there, you send the goods - because electronic transfer is foolproof isnt it?, and then the cheque bounces like a rubber kangaroo on a trampoline.
IF you ring your bank and ask whether say, £5000 has been payed in they will say yes - you must ask how it was payed in !!! The bank will tell you if you ask but dont always offer the information straight away !!!!! (which is what the scammer is hoping)
