park lane, west end of london , friday 5.30......................most cars are quite good fun on empty country roads. I like sitting in a traffic jam with the ipod on, climate control set just so and windows sealing out the noise of all other traffic. I've got a clk320 (54) so not adverse to the nivana of an empty country road but sitting in a traffic jam is when i appreciate the car i've got most!!

Sitting in a traffic jam is probably one of my worst driving nightmares

If I don't go into town by 9am on a Saturday or 10.30am on a Sunday I don't even try as it's just bumper to bumper the whole way and I cannot think of a more mindless way to spend my time :?

now then......do you mean going to town on a saturday or sunday is mindless, or sitting in traffic listening to music is mindless?!!!

'fraid I have no option but to sit in traffic as it's the only way to get home. Unless of course I want to leave my clk at home and play sardines on the train instead.

....laying down a couple of black stripes on the way out of a T-junction.

NOTE TO ANTI-SPEED LOBBY. I DO THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WHEN NO ONE ELSE IS ABOUT

Personally I don't find shopping on a Saturday afternoon mindless at all. As long as I can sit in the pub till it's all over.....

Best road in these 'ere parts is the A272 from Winchester heading East. Had a good run with a TVR the other day. Wish my exhaust was a teeny bit louder...

The A31 around Alton is a dual carriageway with roundabouts which are always good for testing the ESP is still working. Not really my second best road of all, more of a specialist choice.

Third choice? Dunno. Have to think some more.

any road south in europe generally

but especially from Liege to Trier. Likewise the the A10 south from Salzburg to Zell am See, but the best one is the road from work to home. I'll just go and hammer it again now.

(3) M6 going over Shap Fell.

No1. next time up the M6 come off at J36 and head up to penrith on the A6 over shap fell. that will put a better smile on your face.

No2. A702. get your maps out then go for a drive south on this road...you wont belive it.

No3. The road my life leads me down.

Someone mentioned North Wales, you have to be careful their as they have aChief of Police that thinks car drivers should be flogged for speeding.

My favourite local(ish) road is the A34 between Handforth Dean and Alderley Edge in South Manchester. Dual Carriage, fast and sweeping with an number of roadabouts. It just begs you to accelerate hard and brake very late. A certain Mr D. Beckham then of South Manchester managed to avoid a conviction for driving rather quickly on this road when he explained that he was accelerating away from the press who were chasing him - I must remember to use that one myself next time.

Mark.

I'll go with that.

And the A684 between Leyburn and Kendal. (Especially the Hawes to Kendal part.)

A713 between Ayr and Castle Douglas for a bike. 8)
