Hi All... I need to replace the combination switch on my '96 C220 due to the intermittent wiper function being 'intermittent'!! I slaved in a replacement switch into the connector below the steering column and the fault is cured...

I am unable to establish the size of the TORX screws which hold the airbag/horn assy onto the steering column boss... (all the ones I have are the standard short size, and as thus too short to reach into the recess)... can anyone help please ? TA...

Also, What would cause the dipped beam to remain on with high beam selected ? I suspected the combination switch, but when I tried the replacement combo switch (as above) the fault is still the same... stuck relay ?

Thanks again for you help guys...

Torx size

Hi FWD
I checked on the steering wheel of my 95 C250D. 2 T30 size, recessed on the underside . Needs to be about 2ins long. The allen key style torxs fits well & Laser do a quite cheap set.

Hope this helps
Peter

Nice 32pc sets of 75mm long assorted bits (security torx, posi, philips, slotted, etc.) on eBay just now from NEW TOOLS, going for around £8.00. Look up eBay ID 'denver00'.

Just for info, no affiliation!

Fwd, if it makes it easier to find, key in item No. 4355914935 on eBay. He has several sets at the moment. The 32 pc set is best as the torx bits have the hole in the middle to overcome the 'security' screws of which there are a number on Mercs!
