Or whatever it's called......using the fob to open or close the windows, it's an 06 E class Elegance, the thing is the BM's Audi's Fords etc i had ie E46 and 39 had it, this ****** thing doesn't!. Iv'e went through all the settings and can't find anything, yes i know i can stand like an idiot with the fob about 1 foot away from the handle and open or close them (although sometimes it doesn't work), what ****** use is that really, i'd be aswell just getting in or before getting out.
If there's a reason to go back to BM Audi Ford etc, that's it, might sound daft but honestly, when paying good money for these things when new you'd think they'd at least have that when other makes even of a lesser model have it but no.

Yep, poor design. IR for comfort open/close only at short distances and only then if pcb on receiver in door handle has been soldered correctly. Wonder if other makes use radio wave?

Yes a pretty crap design as you say, i mean paying all that money for what is a "premium" make and the can't do that, doesn't say much to be honest. I guess Audi, Ford BM etc use radio waves etc, def not impressed with Merc regards that.

Yup today mb, leading design and facilities is at least, questionable. I think the brand is overliving its heratige . Its little better than any other 45k car today.

But MB's infra red version is anything but convenient when it means you have to stand next to the driver's door to make it work.

I know Mercedes isn't the car perhaps it once was, and other makes have certainly caught up, if not passed it, but Mercedes is still a brand to aspire to, in people's eyes, still special. Certainly feel special driving mine.

Not a problem for me I hardly ever open windows in the car. On the rare occasion I do I close them before turning the engine off.
If you want that facility you should have checked before buying.

The point is ... other main stream manufactures that have a total closure system that is useful ..... we all leave a window or roof open at sometime. So to have to then go & stand by the driver's door to close them isn't exactly convenient. Other manufactures use RF which means that you can open or close windows &/or roof from the comfort of our front room - providing of course you can see your car

I do as I prefer fresh air than false cooling.
