Touched a fuse in the fuse box and car wont start as gear stuck in Park position.

I have ML 270CDI Registered 2004I in UK. I was trying to change the fuse, so I opened the fuse compartment under the car bonnet and touched the fuse and the Car wouldn't start as the Auto Gear lever is stuck in P Position. I called AA Rescue and the engineer stated it was brake light circuit fault? What have I done wrong and how can I make the car to start.
