my 2012 w212 e class has tpms could any tell me if the sensors are the tyre valves or is it done through the abs

I reckon if you can call up a dashboard screen with pressures for each wheel then You have sensors on each wheel . If not , then it's through the abs/wheel rotation thingy

Should be in the tyre valves on a W212.

My w212 does not show individual tyre pressures which makes me think that mine is done by wheel diameter. Wighty’s post makes sense to me.

ABS sensing a difference in wheel rotation, does work although not as accurate as sensors in the valves

If it is in the valves then they should be easy enough to spot and should look like this one: -
