Hi all, quick question as I am buying new wheels and tyres ...I asked the guy powder coating and refurbishing my old wheels about new TPMS sensors in new wheels and Tyres I am looking to buy he had a look and told me I don't need them as my E250 estate S212 has levelling sensors, is this correct as new wheels people want an extra £100+ for sensors, thanks Kim :)

Does your current wheels have TPMS sensors?

Can you see the individual tyre pressures displayed on the dash? Or just a notification when one is requiring checking?

First works on TPMS sensors, second works on wheel speed sensors and a speed imbalance due to lower pressure in a tyre

Hi no individual pressures just a general message occasionally saying check tyres which I clear with an ok :)

TPMS is often used as a generic term for both direct & indirect systems. ABS system is actually a tyre deflation warning system ie it monitors wheels speeds & flags up a warning when it sees a wheel going faster than the other 3

Also, levelling sensors are something entirely different; your estate has self-levelling rear suspension. Nothing at all to do with tyre pressure monitoring.

Thanks Craig , I understand that, every time I lowered my last 3 vans I had to adjust the mechanical leveling sensors to get the headlights to rise up the road .. The guy said that each corner was monitored and the system detected an individual corner dip to throw a check pressure message incorrect then ?

You could just look at your existing wheels , if normal rubber valves and all is well . Then new wheels would simply require rubber type valves.

If your wheel valves look like this then you have TPMS.

If his valves look like that, those are the valves he needs on new wheels.

Bridgestone Turanza T005235/35R19 91Y or I am leaning towards Pirelli P6000 Powergy235/35R19 91Y Both A grip and B economy and with a Pirelli price offer only £1 more for the 6000s (next it will be E10 or.... regular or Ultimate :p) happy days Kim

Neither.

GY Asymmetric 6 or 5's. Excellent tyre.
Pirelli were v poor on my E63 when it got cold and damp. Zero grip compared to GY.
