I would ask your insurance co what they require as there are certain Thatcham catergories they might insist on for your policy.

That said look at https://www.tracker.co.uk/ who have been around for donkeys.

Do you have keyless go, seems many insurance are requiring trackers where Keyless go is present

I'd get another insurance company...

I'm not saying don't get a tracker, but if an insurance company wants me to have one they can jog on

Used to have a C63...
I don't have experience of trackers, per se, but the alarm & immobiliser in my UnMerc is Vodaphone (a UK-only requirement that's fitted by the manufacturer at port of entry), and there have been quite a lot of problems with it (not just me) sounding off for no reason, won't then switch off on the key fob, etc.

If your car is valuable to you and you intend keeping it then why not get a tracker. I see the issue now as you lost a 7 series.
Did you ask other insureres for a quote, you might be suprised (cheaper) and no request for a tracker.
I guess the issue is your insuerer is the same that previously paid out.

Its a shame that we owners have to pay out and are seen as a risk due to some low lifes car jacking you.

My insurance insist upon a tracker in the S Class, they also did in my previous car (W213 E63s). The E Class had one factory fitted which just needed registering in my name but I had to fit my own in the S and went with a TrackStar from THESE PEOPLE, or at least their local (to me) authorised agent. It's a Category 6, which is now S7, (required) and cost £399 which includes a 3 year subscription.

It's been fine apart from a few false alarms initially which were eventually discovered to be a result of the supplier fitting an old unit with even older firmware. I personally wouldn't have bothered with it had it not been for the insurance aspect. I only found one insurance company who didn't request it but they were over £1k dearer, so a no-brainer really.

Edited to amend link to correct page. :)

I believe AMGeed has a tracker fitted so he may also be able to advice what he got fitted, seem to think/remember something when he got his new motor.

I have a tracker on my 55, it was in it when I bought the car, never use of pay a monthly payment which you have to pay or you can pay yearly. I couldn't see the point as it made no difference in my premium. But in your case Deadeye-Detailing get a tracker. I have Trackstar by VehTec.
