I currently have an E280 which I've owned for 10 years and regard highly. It's always been serviced by Mercedes Benz so it's well looked after. With only 160,000 mile on the clock, it's just about run in but I've been seduced by a 2014 facelift w212 E350. However, and I know there's been much discussion on the website on this subject, I do find that AMG grill 'blingey' and much prefer the tradition version with the 3 pointed star on the bonnet.
So my question is, has anyone managed to find a grill that can be used as a straight swap and that fits in exactly?
I know it's been attempted but often not totally successfully and I know the USA has the luxury version but with a new front bumper and all that expense on an 8 year old car? I don't think so.
All that said, the E280's replacement still hasn't materialised and I've yet to clap eyes on it 7 weeks after paying the deposit (it's been bought on-line from a reputable car dealer with whom I'm in regular contact, so I know I'm not being scammed before anyone warns me!) and the current car is still so sound that buyer's remorse is setting in even before taking delivery of the new one!

Hello and welcome,

The traditional grill and "bomb sight" was offered in Europe - so you could get one from there along with the "bomb sight" - it was something I was thinking about for my W213 as I also much prefer the traditional look

You had me worried there for a moment, I've seen occasional scruffy MBs, but never anything so bad I'd describe it as a "bomb site".

I think that bomb sight may be what you had in mind...

Pre facelift owners have successfully changed the grill to a facelift one, so doing the opposite, facelift to pre facelift should present no difficulty.

Personally I wouldn't dream of changing it. I have the facelift and it looks perfect to me.
