hi

Im on a mission to buy an xtr4. Consequently i need a trailer for my benz to pull said car. Are there any gurus here who can advise as to how much a trailer for an xtr4 would roughly cost (with & without winch)

Im quite close to buying. However & from my perspective, Westfield have an appaling approach to there customers. They are hell bent on sending me info on second hand cars via email. This is doing my nut. If i wanted a second hand car i would ask for one. However Westfield are hell bent on destroying the new car experience by trying to make me buy old cars.

I could rant immaculate....

anyway I like the xtr4. Im not fond of the xtr2 as there is no reverse and the bike engine has the life span of a moped.

I also like the idea of a blown 1800.Dump valves are sexy, as is upping the boost (and the power) for peanuts.

nope got a garage. The w210 does not fit, but this ride should. Im looking for a trailer to get me from 'circuit to circuit' or more likely! event to event. The xtr4 has an open cockpit, which will likely need covering if its damp. Been thinking about a 'high tech' material like goretex to keep the humidity out.

From what i can undertand the car has a gel coated grp 'fuselage'. The grp is prone to 'fade'. My s7 had grp and it went from red to pink in about 6 months.

In sum: Im looking for a trailer, perhaps with a winch and a uv/ 'humidity' cover to stop the electrics going nuclear

I'd start by looking at the Brian James website then look at a few others. My recommendation would be a Brenderup alloy tilt-bed trailer with a hydraulic tilt bed damper

Just drive the car on and the bed will tilt flat, tie it down and drive away. When you get to the track untie the car, move it forward 12" and the bed will tilt down. Drive the car off

The biggest problem you'll have will probably be ground clearance

most of the hillclimb people use covered trailers.

It means that you can tow your car and load in all the other stuff, wets, tools, etc.

The advantage is that you can stop without worring about people nicking your stuff.

restricted budget

thanks gents.

The budget could stetch to about 2k but would like to spend about 1.5k. For 2k i would like an electric winch or would be happy with a mechanical job- as long as it works. Dont know if thats realistic. I Would pay abit more to stop thieving vermin annoying me. In fact i would chop off my left nut, as long as i could personally execute the idiots who have robbed my cars

BTW and a silly question what is a covered trailer? Done a basic google search and from what i can see they look like horse trailers and expensive.

Anyway & from what i can gather, the car is abit small and might have a smaller footprint to a regular car, perhaps meaning a bespoke trailer. I dont know. If the footprint is similar to a regular car, then i'll pick up an autotrader and see what i can get (if they do trailers)

The car seems very low to the ground. Been looking at images to try and work out how much of an inclined plane would be needed to get the car on a trailer, or indeed if will get up the drive. Life might be good if the nose easily detaches.

many problems to resolve

Anyway, thanks for the help!

lots to digest.
