Transmission dipstick needed

I need a dipstick for auto trans, where can I get one.

I just got one for the mem's 210. What model box are you dipping, someone might have a spare.

Is there a generic transmission dipstick for all Mercedes that dont have one or are there many, one for each merc.

Hi,
I preseume you are checking the transmission oil. this normally has a security tab on it.
If you have broken the tab to check it you need to get the dip stick from merc. There are two types red and green. Merc in Reading refused to seel me the dip stick.
In then end I measured the high and low points on a garages dip stick and then used the spring flexi cable that is used to hang net curtains.
Its cheaper and it works very well.
I have a c class merc (w202) and I can send you the measurements if you wish.

I did exactly the same got the measurements from a photo published on here and made this one, used heat shrink electric insulation for the red and black markers

Can you leave the dealer dipstick in

like the stick on my 124, or do you only use it to measure the level now and then?

The one I made is too long to leave permanently in the tube I use it just for measurement. Instead of the red plastic security cap that you have to break off every time I made a rubber bung for the top of the dipstick tube and fitted a small bore swan neck breather tube in the bung to allow the transmission to breath

Oddly enough I've never bothered purchasing the red cap, the black cap fits securely enough without it.

What’s the markings mean on the dip stick 25 to 30 and would this work for a C class W202 model

The marks are 25 and 80 the two lower marks at 25 are for checking the fluid level at 25 degrees and the top two at 80 degrees ie at full operating temperature after a good long run around 10 miles. so on my home made stick the fluid level should be between the two red markers when up to full operating temperature with the car in N or P engine idling. My car is a 202 C230K with 5 speed transmission.
