Transmission fluid

I am new to this forum and was wondering about changing the transmission fluid in my e320 wagon with 99K. The transmission dip stick tube seems to be sealed with a red plastic clip and cap. Is this some way of keeping owners from checking fluid level and condition. My local dealer is corrupt and I would prefer not to deal with them.

Would someone please advise about type of fluid, amount, filter, drain and fill
procedure, etc.

If same as 124 model dip stick has black collar under the red top, this is conected to red top but unclips from around metal tube which will then allow stick top be removed.
