I assume your MB is a W140 500 SE, what year 1993-4?????

There is a control box which are prone to mositure contanimation this can cause bizzare things to happen, but having said that Ive just sold a 4 speed box for £250 to a chap with exactly the same problem.

No gearboxes mainly, depending on mileage etc, ignition modules are another problem, £1000 from MB hard to find second hand. symptoms are it runs for 15mins and then dies, restarts after about 30 mins.
other than that good motor.
what did you pay for it and where did you get it from?? where are you and what do you want for it???

I'm from New Zealand next to Austrailia , I got it from a NZ 'd type ebay for 6000 NZ = 2000 pounds sterling, I want to keep it for my wife as it seems a safe car compared to many japanese autos but perhaps not as reliable?
