trick to opening hood on 94 w129?

i am having difficulty opening the hood on my sl. the hood releases and only opens about an inch or so. any help would be appreciated. thanks...tom

only the front of the hood is opening. no flashing lights. thanks..tom

Are you using the american version of hood, Do you mean the bonnet? If so there is a release catch in the middle of the Star in the grille that you pull towards you to release the bonnet(hood).

thanks for reminding that with the touch of the keys i have traveled 7k miles with a flick of my little finger. you are so right, the bonnet is being down right difficult and still firmly attached to the rest of the coachwork.

i have not been able to locate a latch in the front central portion of the bonnet. is there one that i am missing?

help!!!!!!!! thanks...tom

i just listened and found that pesky latch hidden in plain sight.

there was another surprise under the hood. my 500sl lost 2 cylinders. this mercedes is destined to be down the road. thanks again for the help...tom
