Has anyone had any experience at comparing fuel consumption figures given by the trip computer (non-reset and 5 hr reset readings) and by recording fill-ups against odometer readings. I have found about a 15% discrepency (trip-computer reads over optimistic) between the two methods. I would be interested to know the method by which the trip-computer makes its calculations, I have always assumed it can measure the actual fuel delivered by counting fuel injection cycles against distance covered, but does it do this ? Can the system be manually re-calibrated high or low ?
