Trunk lid scrapes bumper SLK230

SLK230...When I lower the top, the trunk lid opens & lowers.. it scrapes the bumper (cover).. sometimes it stops the top operation... If someone pushes the bumper cover in towards the car, it will clear & continues to put the top down. Hmmm... could the bumper cover have 'expanded out" away from the car, causing the trunk lip to hit it?.. could the trunk lid be out of alignment? I can't seem to find any thread where others have this problem.

Sounds as though something is out of alignment, possibly a poor rear end repair. A photo of what's happening might give the experts on here better info.
