Hi guys.
Recently my trunk lock stopped working, i.e. latch won't lock when I put the trunk lid down.
I figured out, that trunk lock works with wires disconnected, so I disconnected the wires and the cable.
Only when I locked the trunk completely, I realised that rear seats are locked in place fully.
Now I have no access to the trunk and have no clue how to open it.
Metal key doesn't open it at all.
Any advice how to get into the trunk to open it from inside is greatly appreciated.
The car is 2009 E250 coupe (C207).
Thanks.

Speak to an Indy. It’s highly likely a small hole can be drilled behind the number plate to allow the latch to operate.

^^^^this^^^^

I had a similar issue with my r230 (in my case caused by being rear ended) and that was how we opened it.

Is it possible to remove rear seats from inside without breaking them?

On the coupe, I believe that there is a bulkhead inbetween the seat backs and the boot.

Are you certain that you can't free the lock?
Often the locks gum up and seize through lack of use, but patience and regular application of a penetrating oil can free it.
Last time I had to free a boot lock, it at first appeared that the key was turning fully before it met resistance, but it wasn't. A liberal squirt of oil and a good wiggling of the key, turning it back and forth at regular intervals over a period of an hour eventually freed it. Just be careful not to force the key and break it.

Malcolm used to suggest having something vibrate the key would help - I recall an electric toothbrush being his favourite suggestion.

Watch the YouTube channel “Lockpicking Lawyer” for good examples of this.

What was in it ? Maybe leaving it shut is an option. I usually just put stuff on the back seat in our Beemer, rather than getting out and opening the boot . It's a bit of a faff anyway.

Thanks for the tips guys.
Will try to push the stick in between the rear seats and push the handle that drops the seats down.
Will see how it goes.

Hi guys.
Need your help with this.
Basically, I need some kind person to draw me a drawing shape of a pipe I want to use to slide it between rear seats from inside the car and to push the handle that drops down the rear seat on the driver's side of a RHD car. It will look like a spark symbol, but with 90 degrees angles.
Thanks in advance.

Got 8 mm steel rod and shaped it to the rough size needed to get to the handle inside the trunk. Pushed it from inside the car between two rear seats and kept trying until I caught that ****** handle. Only took me 3 hours to get it done :))) But at least I did no damage to any part of the car and have my boot back :)
