Turbo Charger?

I have a motorhome based on a 1989 Mercedes 207D. I think the engine is a 616 series and with just 85k on the clock she still has plenty of life. This old lady goes 3.5 tons loaded and struggles up hills begging for 2nd gear.
Would it be feasible to retro fit a turbo charger to give her a helping hand?

I have seen RHD w123s 3 litre diesels fitted with aftermarket turbo conversions but these were meant to be riddled with faults and would have cost a fortune and won't be available anymore.

I think you've got the om616 2.4 litre in the 207d so I don't know if you could retro fit a om617 3 litre diesel or the m115 (i think) 2.3 petrol that was fitted to other T1s.

It would probably be cheaper and easier to get a faster 'van.

Thanks for your replies. I found a company in Lancs that specialise in this field. They commonly retro fit turbos to these Mercs complete with intercoolers and exhaust alterations for (tongue in cheek) ONLY £2250. Dont complain if you are caught behind me on a steep hill.
