Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
I think you'd struggle to match a 4.5 Cerb mate, but the Chims and Griffs wouldn't be a problem :)

Hi

You seem to have a love for cubic inches in liking both TVR and CLK 55's. Tell me, I was passed your name on another post as a contact who could give pointers to a potential 2001 CLK55 AMG owner. Anything I should look out for that could cost large amounts of money. The car will be for day to day use. Thanks in advance

Gosh! I don't know that much about them. They're not as reliable as I expected (but that gives it character, right? As an ex-TVR owner, I'm quite happy!). I am having an ongoing prob with the COMAND system in that it ignores my autochanger (apparently I don't have one, even though I can see it in the boot!). In theory I could replace the cabling. Otherwise I could get a system installed by Alfie (user on here) for around £800 (which is quite reasonable for a satnav/autochanger system; Mercedes want about £3000!!!). There are a few rattles. Otherwise, it is something that seems to get me from A to B very quickly and if I want to chase exotica, I just kick down a few gears using the tiptronic. The handling is good but the ride is quite firm (AMG have had a say in that kind of thing).

Sorry I can't be more help. If you find one, I would see if TM Motors in Walton (or Molesey?) can have a look over it for you.

In terms of a daily car, that is certainly something it's capable of. In the last 6 months since buying it, I have not had a problem starting it and getting to my destination.

Bottom line: am I glad I bought it? Yep! This weekend has been a fantastic, sun-filled weekend of TVR chasing. It can hold its own amongst supercar exotica and happily sit in my regular London commuter traffic.

Thanks for the info.

Good luck in exotica hunting - just beware spinning TVR's when you get too close ..............................
