Hi guys,
I'm getting my wheels refurbished next week and I'd like to install tyer pressure sensors, my car is a mercedes c220 w04 amg sport 2013 that has not got tpms installed from new, anyone know how/if this can be done obviously I'd like to avoide the dealer if at all possible as referbing these wheels is not cheap, I wonder if anyone knows how this can be done I don't want to buy those silly valve cap ones as they are really large looking,

thanks for anyone taking time to read this hopefully someone can help

Hello and welcome,

You can get aftermarket systems that replace the valve stems. In reality the systems can be more trouble than they’re worth. Does yours not already have the pressure loss system based on the wheel speed sensors?

Checking your pressures weekly with a pencil gauge when you give it a wash and check the oil is more than sufficient. Also avoiding potholes and straddling speed cushions. (One wheel in the gap and one over the middle) means you’re much less likely to crack a wheel and suffer pressure loss.

Blobcat thanks for reply, I'm not too sure if the tyer pressure works from the wheel speed sensors I always check tyer pressures but i drive a company van to work now with awhile so I'd like to get on the road without pulling up fueling and then going checking tyer pressure, Is there any way to tell if they work off the wheel speed sensor? Thanks again for reply.

Yes - can you see actual pressure figures in the dash display? or just a notification if one is low?

If numbers then pressure sensors in the valves - if not then wheel speed sensors

I got a set and a monitor from the following company. I went with external pressure sensors. The locking hexagon nut stops people from stealing the sensors unless they have a suitable very thin angled spanner tool.

My only issue with the external ones is the look.. however I tought my car did have tyer pressure sensors at all but as bobcat said It maybe wheel speed sensors that bring the light on when there low, I feel like a dummy not to think of that,
