Hi, the tyre pressure on my Mercedes me app only show the pressure in kPa, my tyre came up on my dashboard as low pressure but when I went to the garage the machine was only in PSI. I looked in my fuel cap and my tyres weren’t listed on it. How do I find out what the pressure should be?

The pressure in the fuel cap should work (or at least be a good starter)

    Hi Kath

The fuel filler flap usually gives 2x sets of tyres/pressures, your tyres should match one of those unless you have fitted different wheels/tyre combination than those recommended by MB. Also fuel filler gives bar and psi (in brackets) from my experience.

Most garages have a switch on the inflation machine so it can indicate in either Psi or Bar/Kpi.

If the car has different size wheels/tyres fitted you may want to check with the supplier.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
My tyres fitted when the car was new are Continental 235/40 ZR20, but this size isn’t on the fuel cap. It is going in for the first service 24th June. I will check with the dealership then

on my clk the pressure is shown as 2.1 bar that will be about 210 kpa or kilopascal so just multiply the bar by 100. If your garage only has psi then 1 bar is about 14.7 psi but for this case you could call it 15psi so 30 psi would be about 2.0 bar or about 200 kpa.
my old BMW 3.0SI had an oil pressure gauge in kpa, Germany has always liked to use it
just noticed the above post so 38 psi is 262 kpa and 39 is 269 kpa

Mine are well under that. Front 243kPa rear 223kPa. I will have to get to the garage. They have obviously never been right from first buying it.

Funny how the Germans are sensible and use the metric system which is so simple.....:)

It's time we moved out of the "stone" age and went properly metric.

Even when we do go metric we still complicate it.
Remember going away from £Sd? Instead of sticking to the usual decimal currency where everything was based on 10,100,1000 etc some bright spark decided it would be better to have 1/2p as well!

Travelling in Miles and buying fuel in Litres, shouldn't we be comparing consumption figures in Miles/Litre? ;)

The website showing “Tire” may be for US spec so be careful with that.
This one suggest 35/36psi which equates to about 240kPa.

Mercedes recommendation for my GLC43 is only 220kPa front and rear so best to ask Mercedes. You may get more sense out of Customer Services (00 800 97777777) than the local Dealer.

Kath, i know this looks as if this old man has a few nuts missing i have nitrogen gas in my tyres it is a very stable pressure it is used in all race cars, all aircraft tyres and 95 % h g v s; and you also get more m p g. Find a local indie tyre retailer, they would be more than happy to help, a possible discount off for cash (continental sport 5s 90ys) I wish only to be of help.

Hi, I rang Mercedes at Whitefield and a tyre guy rang me back. He wasn’t sure but thinks about 36psi 248 kPa. With the car having the premium package and the aerodynamics package they are special size tyres. Checked online and found a website that sold these tyres (only Continental seem to make them) and it said 36 on the front and 35 on the back. So the Mercedes guy was about right. Thanks for all the replies

Normal dry air contains 78% nitrogen anyway.

I’m always interested in how they pump out all the air from the tyre before filling with nitrogen :rolleyes:o_O
