Okay, this is probably a very stupid question, but here goes.....

When should I set my tyre pressure....when the tyres are cold or when they're warm?

If I set them correctly when they're cold, the pressure will increase as the tyre warms up.

If I set them correctly when they're warm, they will be under pressure when they are cold

You have one more now, always when cold, don't forget to allow for how many people or extra weight you have in the vehicle.

Just for the record
Air lines at supermarkets when free, do not have to be accurate, but an indication.

When you pay for the air, they are callibrated and accurate.
With home gauges the round ones are much more accurate than the pen type.
