I`ve recently fitted Toyo Road pros all round on my 98 C240 and the performance etc seems fine but I`m putting them at the pressures as stated on the filler nozzle 31 front and 34 rear. Has anybody used these and have they varied the normal pressures to their advantage? Any opinions appreciated.

I generally average the figures on the filler cap plate.
As most of my work is unloaded but high speed, its a compromise.
I would imagine the lower the pressure, the better the ride but poorer econonomy as there will be more rolling resistance, but also as a result, better grip.

I tend to watch the wear and adjust accordingly, so, if the wear is more on the edges, increase the pressure a few pounds, if the wear is more in the centre, decrease it.

Hi Lordjellybelly

I've been thinking about fitting TOYOs to my MB which are presently shod with Continentals on all four corners. I've switch to using TOYOs on a previous vehicle with dramatic performance improvements and I'm wondering if I might get the same gains on my MB.

What do you feel about TOYOs, so far?

I wholeheartedly agree with the opinion on F1s they're brilliant, wear rates excellent as well

Re the correct pressure try the chalk test.

Test of tyres in this country are for the best part pathetic. Germany and Sweden use the same car for all test and change the wheels fitted with different tyres. On a points system with the following test.

braking Dry 30mph
Wet 30 mph
dry 70 mph
wet 70 mph
Avoiding action Wet
Dry
Comfort
Noise, this includes the wear rate as it uses energy to generate noise
Kindness to nature (what they are made with)

Always on top Are Continental,Goodyear and Michlin, From memory I don't think the Toyo did very well, somewhere 7-9th down the list When I get the next test I will translate and put it up. So before you go flying down the road at 70 and be fine in the dry, it may not stop in the wet

I did the same and on balance I will stay with F1s - I'm on my second set. I still have some affection for the Michelins they do give slightly more progressive handling and breakaway albeit at a slightly lower speed.

I want to try some NCT 5s on the barge - F1s are over the top for that. I gotta get rid of the P6000s as hustling through the lanes on Sunday it was a handful. Brakeaway front or back is a lottery:mad:  . Anyone got any comments on the tyres (only)?
