Need members views / comments - I need to replace the rear tyres on my
W210 - 235 / 45 ZR17 I have been running Pirelli P-Zero Rosso which I have found excellent in all aspects apart from the wear / mileage - 10,000 miles and they are on the wear markers, the fronts are about 50% worn.

My question is, is there another tyre (Pirelli or another manufacturer) better suited to my car that will give a better mileage that will also be compatible with the two Pirelli's on the front.

Bridgestone Turanzo seem to fit the bill - anyone had these?

Just checked the Bridgestone web site it would appear they don't manufacture a tyre the size I require - shame looks a good tyre..................

jib - I really want a tyre that gives a reasonable return in terms of mileage - what spec / type of tyres do you use, where do you purchase from ?

I know you already said Turanza's are not available in that size, but I had them and found them very harsh riding - Bridgestone's are noted for stiff sidewalls.

For lifetime, Michelin Primacy HP's should be the best and they are available in your size. I have them and they do ride *much* better than the Turanza's. I really only do motorway cruising and I got about 18K from the Turanza's on the rear - after 10K on Primacy HP's they still look almost new. Costco is a good place to buy them if you have membership.

I'm getting good results from Goodyear NCT 5s on the front and Michelin Pilot primacys on the rear. The tyres have covered 20K and are only half worn with mixed driving. I'm running 215/55/16 tyres so can't vouch for the bigger and wider section tyres your using but there shouldn't be much of a difference in the rubber compound.

Hope this helps!

I see that the USA tyres have to mark on the tyre the average mileage that can be expected

Michelin Pilot Primacy on my W210 estate. It's that long ago since I had them I can't remember when. Must be 20,000+ miles and still loads of tread! :-D

Michelin Pilot's on 2005 W211 since new - 22000 + miles and just over 3mm tread depth left for both front and rear sets - even wear - checked cold weekly using quality tyre pressure guage (Drapers truck type) and pressures as per MB recommendations from filler cap - pressure altered to reflect load and reverted back to normal asap after use - no kerb bashing - well satisfied

I've had the NEW Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's on for 2 months on my CLK 430 and they have been nothing but superb. I'd been using the old style F1's with the "V" groove before the re-design and so far, so good.

However, as they are still very new there are still sizes that have yet to be made and they are like rocking horse dung at present.

I can only report my own personal experience and the F1's have always served me well.

Michelin Pilot Primacy, will need replacing this winter, about 20,000miles. Have enjoyed the grip through corners and from take-off, so can't complain.

This experience mirrors mine almost exactly (I've more tread on the front at the same miles on a W209 2004). So why am I thinking of changing away from Michelin Premacy Pilot? I'm not anymore - this thread has given me the answer - stay on Michelins. Thanks all.

Seems a good price but make sure you're getting the HP versions - non-HP's are the previous version.

Geoff W, £79 per tyre all in sounds good value for money. I assume you own a saloon or I would advise a 93 weight rating as a minimum on an estate.

Hi Malcolm yes it is a saloon 97 c180 with alloys, i just went with this rating as it was what was on it when i got it, does that sound OK to you?
Regards Geoff.
