Tyre Swaps

Hi All,

My missus wants to downsize her car but before we sell it, I want to nab all the tyres off it. They're Michelin Cross Climates and all 4 were fitted at the end of last year but only done a little over 1000 miles since. Wife has a VW Touran and tyre size is the same as my W246 (205/55/R16) but the ones on mine are a right hotch potch, 3 different budget ones & 1 Michelin PS3!

Before I swap both sets over, I've a few questions which I need some advice on as I'm still new to the MB brand:

• Will the tyres be compatible?
• Can the existing W246 TPMS valves be used or are new ones required/recommended?
• Any configuration/resetting required (for the TPMS) after tyres changed?
  
• Approximate cost from garage/mobile unit

The tyres will be compatible in size but you need to check they are the required load and speed rating, I’d guess yes
The TPMS won’t care what tyres it’s monitoring
Usually just needs an ok to reset the values at the desired pressure
Expect to pay £15/£20 a corner

Thanks for the advice John. I've checked the tyre ratings and they're the same as mine. On the car and not my waist!...although the missus will eagerly dispute this!

I'll get all the TPMS valves changed too as a matter of precaution. I believe the car wasn't serviced for several years before I bought it so I want to avoid any further issues.

Big shout out to Wayne Gates who did a full service on the car and are local to me. Motor drives so much better than before. and I wouldn't have known about this highly reputable indie if it weren't for this forum! Spoke with Terry who's a very nice chap and very knowledgeable.

I look after my friends car for her and got the X-Climates put on her little VW Up for £55 a corner. Transformed it after the Kuhmo she bought it with.

I got them for a similar price from Costco when they had a black Friday deal just before Christmas last year. I agree the tyres are great, so much so, even the missus noticed how much better her car was to drive. And I can't even get her to check her tyre pressures!
