Hi All,

I am after some set of affordable and reliable tyres from my W203 C coupe, left rear tyres appear worn and maybe the cause of the plasticy noise I hear when driving the hatch, feels like some plastic things are not screwed together property, the noise is also louder from the rear left hand side, which leads me to believe that it might be the tyres.

I went on national tyres and I was able to select a Barum Bravuris 2 for £171 fitted and it did confirm that they would do the balancing.

I also went onto Blackcircles and they could do 2 x Pirelli P6000 for £176 fitted, but I am not sure if Blackcircles do balancing and allignment, cant anyone confirm this.

What do you guys recomend ?

Looking forward to replies or other tyres which are good on MErcs particularly my car and would get me to break the bank..

Continental,Michelin primacy, dunlop, Pirelli

All tyre shops do balancing. Do a web search as there are mobile guys that call at yout house or work place.

I have never heard of the first make, must be cheap money earners for National

Barum are Continentals budget brand I believe.
Look up E-Tyres & My Tyres before buying anything.

I don't know what size you need for yours but, this is what I've got on mine.

They're fitted by National Tyres. I know some on this forum don't have a good opinion of them but, my local fitter always takes a lot of care and effort (probably helps that I hover over them while they do it).
Oh, and that's the bottom line price, i.e. includes fitting, balance, old tyre disposal, VAT, etc

I recently sourced 2 x Michelin for E220 Cdi via web and Blackcirles best price £264 including fitting, balance and tyre disposal - I then deduced from their information for fitting locally the name of the Company in Canterbury - one telephone call "can you match this price from web?" replied immediatley YES and job done. Saved £56 over normal price and place I have previously purchased tyres from!! Worth the research and then asking the question of local Tyre suppliers

Hope this helps

Hi All,

I am after some set of affordable and reliable tyres from my W203 ..........

Hi, it's worth posting the sizes you are looking for, there are big discounts to be had depending on tyre size.

I scored 2 Continental premium contacts for my '202 earlier this year, £130 all up (drive-away price) after much bartering, I might add.
Opinions and budgets apart - good tyres are an investment and Mercs thoroughly deserve good tyres.

Also try something like Falken's or Kumho, they both very good brands but at very low prices. Both of these brands are tested by myself many times and they both very durable and long lasting with very confortable drive.

Falkens A539 (i think) are very very good as they come with outer lip which protects your wheel from the kerbs as well.

Go to any tyre place and ask for these brands and you will be amazed at the prices. I beleive you are after 215 45 17 for your car which shouldnt be any more than £60/each fitted.... Bargain!!!!!!!!

Thanks Guys, the tyres I'm after are 224 45 17. Looks like I am going to go for Dunlop SP Sport 9000. quoted at £90 each.

Although, I have seen falken at £70 each, I am just thinking I go for a brand name even though it will be at a stretch, as there is a credit crunch, just thinking tyres are things that dont get changed ofte, so one might as well, go for the best.
