When i got my ML270, i fitted 255/60/17 Goodyear efficient grips. At the time the total cost was about £400 all in.
They have done about 10,000 now, and look like about 5,000 more to go. Hence started to consider replacements.
To fit the same now would be in excess of £500, so looking at other brands.
The car just cruises about, it is not driven hard, and the only real hard work it does is towing a horse trailer.
There are some, what i would call, budget brand tyres that i can get for about £85 a corner. Can any one recommend decent budget tyres that are ok.
No hurry for replies as got a bit of time yet. I prefer a road tyre rather than off road type as like a decent quiet ride.
Long shot i know as every one has a different view of what tyre we should and should not use. For example BLACKCIRCLE do there own brand tyre, or is it ?

I have found that my local independent tyre centre is way cheaper than any of them. Maybe I just walk in at the right time when they have an offer on a particular tyre, I don't know. But I certainly won't be bothering with on-line tyre vendors, far easier just to drive the mile and a half to my local guy. :)

Am on second set of Goodyear Efficient Grip Preformance tyres, 16 inch, excellent tyres, did around 25k
Lots of short trips, parking etc. On motorways probably get nearer 30k

Have had the car about 18 months now, it has had multiple faults that i have fixed, all except for one, which is documented somewhere, but long story short, the heater plays up, the windscreen air flap will not open unless you stop and restart the car, then it works, i found a workaround of leaving the heater blower on half a segment when turning off, and all flaps then work first time.
Had the flaps reset on STAR twice, it showed no faults and even the Mercedes electrical expert i used did not have a clue why it does it, after a reset all is fine for a week or so, then back to the fault. I have given up and just live with it, its the only fault the car has at the moment.
Tyres are about a 14 months old, just over 10,000 miles driven, they look just over half worn, but considering a cheaper tyre next time as funds are running low ( no pay rise for 10 years now, unless you could 1% a year a rise !!!!!!)
