Hi everyone, could anyone give me a copy of their UK drivers licence, in the middle of a heated discussion on this subject. You can blank your private details out if you wish, im only looking for the basic layout of the licence. I believe our licence is the correct layout and design, but others disagree. Unfortunately I dont have my UK licence with me.

My understanding of driving licenses when resident in another country is that this has to be surrendered and a driving license is issued for that country. the way around it is to get a duplicate from the UK before you leave.

Thanks for that Malcolm, but it has nothing to do with this, I have a chinese drivers licence. There are many complications with licences here. Most of which are fakes.

What on earth are you getting into, surely 'they' who ever 'they' are could contact the authorities here in the UK, or the EU HQ in Brussels for a definitive and 'politically correct' answer and possibly bags of help!

Not very helpful I know but having had my wallet including my license stolen a short while ago, received a mild bollocking from plod about the license being in the wallet and then a lecture on "cloning" I would be most reluctant to copy anything and send it anywhere, in particular China!

My point was to clear the air as to why you did not have a UK licence yourself.

Just to stop any rumours about you:rolleyes:

Eh? I had a bollocking for NOT having my licence on me when I was stopped! So what are you meant to do, keep it in your hand? Then you'd need some kind of 'hands-free' licence holder for when you were actually driving.

****** filth man, they don't do themselves any favours!

:

eric must feel very proud that the Chinese authorities have asked him to help them with this huge problem, also made hard by the fact that all of erics Emails are intercepted by the Chinese Police Authorities.

Very true until a recent change in European law.
Here, in Spain, you do not now have to exchange your British licence for a Spanish one if you are resident as long as the british licence is the newer 'photocard' european version.
