Hi Guys

I have Just Installed the Latest Parrot MKi9200 into my 2001 Model C200. It is amazing to say the least. I now get CD quality sound from my car stereo without having to change the radio and the latest voice recognition for my Phone Via blue tooth. I was getting really annoyed with the quality of sound from my Radio transmitter connected to the IPOD. Keeps the car looking orgional but with all the modern bells and whistles added as well. I got mine from Halfords alst weekend £156 including free fitting. I ended up installing it myself as I had to remove the old Parrot kit.

Regards

Mick

No worries I will take some today. Also go to the parrot website and get the updated software. Very easy to upgrade, all you need is a USB Stick. I put my Ipod in the Right hand side by the fuse box. That way if the car gets broken into they will not find an IPOD in the glove box.

Mick7', what phone are you using with this set up?

Also, when you attach the iPod do you get the ability to scroll through the track, albums, playlist etc?

TIA.

OK Guys, I will try and add the pics. First of all It was not the hardest thing to install in the world as I had already installed an older Parrok kit. I used a guide someone had on hear when they changed there Audio 10 to aonther model. It was a step by step guide to removing the Air vents, then the plastic trim then the radio comes out. I only have the paper copy, but perhaps someone could search for it.

The Parrot comes with a Wiring kit that is ISO connectors like the Merc. However! You need to connect 2 wires together to get the telephone mute to come up on the radio when you have a call. You also need to coonect 2 power wires together to get the switched live, so that the unit turns on once the radio turns on. Parrot sells converter leads also might be available on ebay. If you dont want to buy the converter and save yourslf £20 then I can tell you what 2 leads need to be wired together! This comes with the health warning that it worked in My audio 10. If anyone is installing in another model or radio I suggest you get professional help.

Once the radio is removed there is stacks of space behind to put the Parrot contral box and wiring looms. I then Ran the microphone lead behind the radio, under the driver foot well, (remove the 3 screws holding the plastic up along where you pull the bonnet release) Up past the fuse box, above the side trip to the light cluster and rear view mirror.

I then run the Ipod connector cable to the fuse box on the Right hand side and installed my ipod on some Velcro and left it behind this panel. That way if the car gets broken into, no one finds it in the glove box! I always leave this one in the car so I dont need to remove it.

I fould the best place for the screen was in front of the Instrument panel. It is easily seen and you dont need to take your eyes away from the instruments or the road to adjust your music playlist etc. I just pushed it under the instrument panel and then pushed the cable along between the dark grey dashboard and light grey dashboard into the back of the radio.

The remote installed by the electric window contols. This way you do not need to reach far and is also out of the way so theft is not a question.

I use an Iphone in the car and connects perfectly with the unit. i only use the Iphone for calls and the Ipod for the music. The Parrot give full control of the Ipod to your playlists, shuffle etc!

I am sure Halford Know what they are doing. Everything works with the radio switched off. If you swith the radio ON and you are playing your Ipod or you have a Phone call, the Radio goes quiet and says TELL on the display.

You use the little remote to contol the volume of the Ipod through your speakers and not the radio. You might be able to buy a box to use the steering wheel switches but basically these are only used to control your radio as before.

hi mick i have a lg viewty ku990. it does not have voice recognition on the phone, so if i want to call a number using voice recognition, is it the parrot system that recognises the voice and number or is it the phone, because if it is the phone i wont be able to use the voice recognition, iam hoping it is the parrot system as it downloads your phone book, and hopefully assigns your voice to the number. hopefuly yhis makes sence

The voice commands are a function of the Parrot and not the phone. So it does not matter what mobile you have. However I think everyone needs an iPhone.

I dunno how you get CD quality sound out of it, thats better than ipods produce, they use a compressed music format which isnt as clear as CD's.

OK! Skiing done Back on dry Land!

You need to cut both the Green and the Red leads on the GREY socket so that you have 4 ends in your hand. You then need to solder those 4 leads together or use a crimp. This makes sure that you get a switched +12v supply to the Parrot.

To get the Mute function to work on the radio. You need to connect the Yellow mute cable to the BLUE socket marked Mute in 3.

Hope this helps!

Regards

Mick
