un-lit clock

hi people can you help with problem number 2, yest i noticed that my clock was not lit but it still keeps the time, i checked ciglighter, stereo, dashboard lights, int lights, side lights, wing mirrors all ok have i missed something. where do i start to look.

95 m c180 (202) i think

you need to remove the instrument panel with two tools from mercedes benz (cost about 15 quid) the part number of the tools is

W 140 589 02 33 00

and they are referred to as 'pulling hooks'

you need to pull the instrument panel out with those tools, and make sure the car is turned off at the ignition while doing this, then locate and erplace the small bulb and reinsert the instrument panel

Or you can make up the tools with two peices of thin welding wire with a small hook on the end. Insert the wires either side of the binnacle and twist through 90' to engage the back of the unit and pull it outwards. However be aware this does involve some risk of expensive damage to the instrument pod in the wrong hands!
Much easier to remove the lower dash panel, reach up and push out from behind. See this thread for more info:
