Under Bonnet Matting - W123

Hello. I've just bought a new underbonnet sound-deadening mat for my 1983 W123 280E. My problem is how do I securely attach it to the underneath of the bonnet? ... Someone suggested Evostik but I didn't want to run the risk of it reacting with the paint? ... Can anybody please advise?

It does have to be some sort of strong adhesive. Im doing the same this weekend! Where did you get yours from?

I got the matting via local dealership in Southampton.

Underbonnet felt

Loctite provides ideal fixing. Spray the bonnet with horizontal stripes and the felt with vertical ones, leave for 5-10 minutes and start fixing from the bottom of the bonnet.

What's the best place then to get an underood mat for a w123? Is the diesel version the same as the petrol? I have a price of 28 pounds + a fiver for p&p

the material can be bought from any auto store and cut to fit and you can get stick on spikes that hold it in place as well as the glue, dsl is the same as your bonnet and is fitted as standard on most of them so a trip to the breakers yard might be a good idea but if you want a made to fit kit then it MB who supply the kit with all the fixings but at a price

The Loctite worked a treat! ... New matting is in place and securely fastened! ... Next job is the replacing of the rubber drain tubes in the A pillars! ... Ah well! Onwards and upwards
