Now enjoying my R129
I guess this is an old discussion point but wanted to get the latest thoughts & opinions for this old chestnut -
could Super Unleaded be any better for my SL500 (1998) than Regular Unleaded.

Would mileage of the car make any difference?

Thank you and Happy New Year to all the members

I use Esso super for my 190B. Infrequent use and Esso super (can't remember the name) has no Ethanol.
CLK any super market petrol.

Does inside your filler cap tell you what RON the car requires ? Or the cars manual.
Using higher RON than required is unnecessary

Use whatever your MB OM recommends.

My 129 (m119) only get unleaded. Very rarely I'll put a tank of super through but I can't tell any difference. Given it spends a lot of its time in France hibernating it's more often than not filled with E10.

E10 makes My R1200GS run like a dog... lumpy, recalcitrant, argumentative, doesn't want to tick over and generally upset with life. It comes in slowly and gets worse... if you ride with a slow group of mates you only really notice when u fill up in England again and it becomes instantly smoother and the front wheel won't stay on the ground

Esso went to 99 octane inside 3 last months (up from ineffective 97), and was and remains as E5 with ethanol nasties.
You are supposed to be able to get Esso without. I've never seen it.

I just put regular in mine with the odd cap of Star Tron to keep the fuel okay, especially when it has been left standing for a while.

I used Super for an R129 track day.
You wouldnt believe the spray of black deposits around the rear bumper and boot lid after a good work out!
Would suggest a good clean out do you think?
