Short while ago I had problem where MB changed my battery, said their computer could not talk to mine, didn't cure any of the fault lights or turned off headlights that were per on, just charged me an arm and a leg and said bring it back for a full diag. I decided to take SLinKyJoe's advice (he responded to original posting suggesting get second opinion) but before I got to another dealer a friend jumped in the car, 4.5 mins later faults now in English and all bar three faults gone, faults left were roll bar etc (things I have not got), back to MB and pleasantly voiced my concerns. Mechanic took car away for 15 mins, came back and said now reproged (this is same place who said computers could not talk) all faults now clear but milage not displayed and man says new cluster needed, phoned me later with cluster price plus 1 hour fitting = £520.00. before going up this route friend of a friend
had a look, found milage still there, said memory in key unit diff to cluster unit. Re flash memory with correct milage. ALL FIXED £60.00 Notes.
Moral of story Beware of MB dealers some should wear a mask.
