S211 320 CDI Avantgarde 2005
Hi, I've had my 2004 s211 Avantgarde 320 i6 CDI for a couple of months now and have really enjoyed tinkering with it and starting to get it up to scratch.

I've refurbed the wheels and bought new centre caps, new wipers, air filter, had a a health check at a local indi and replaced a front ball joint.

I wasn't very happy with the indi in the end. I bought a reconditioned rear air spring for them to fit as I noticed in the service history that only one was replaced two years ago and is at times a little lower than the other side. They had the car for a week and said that they couldn't fit it in the end as the air line thread was damaged. I suspect but can't prove that they fitted it to the wrong side first as I know the wrong wheel came off as I had put new wheel bolts on all round and they have some small scratches on them now. Can't prove it however. The parts company will send me another and also suggested that the garage may have damaged it. . Anyway, no huge rush as the compressor comes on occasionally and it is never slumped.

In short. What a car! 106k miles and drives like it has done 20k. I'm a little bit in love with the thing. I did a 350 mile round trip and left it for 2 weeks at Gatwick airport and all good, 43 mpg and started on the button. The air spring was exactly the same as I left it too

Next job is to try and replace the heater control valve but I'm not sure on which part to buy - lots of helpful threads and as it's not safety critical I'm going to have a go myself.

The car has parking heating so I think the HCV is part number A2118320684 - can anyone confirm this for me please?

Also, I can't seem to find the data sheet online and would be interested to read it.

Vin is wbd2112262a676942

Many thanks in advance - what a great forum, really enjoy reading all the threads

Difference between aux heater and normal version is that water valve has extra connection for coolant hose.

i bet someone with access to EPC confirms your part no

My S211 duo valve was a right bastid to replace as it sits under the brake servo.

Your chassis number is coming up with SA code 580 Air Conditioner and EPC shows A211 832 05 84 Change-over Valve. (Same part number for my S211 with SA code 581 Automatic Climate Control.)
SA code 228 Auxiliary Heater is not listed on your build sheet, that part number you list is valid for 228.
When you say parking heater, do you mean the "REST" function as opposed to parking heater?

+1 For the difficulty replacing a heater control valve.
Cole at MBS did mine on my previous E55 and it looked a nasty job for a DIYer.
His solution to reach it was to remove the throttle pedal and gain easy access.

Interesting, I will have to look at that as i thought the pedal was on the floor and the duo valve is above the steel bulkhead.

Yes, rest feature
Great feature, love it in the winter on a beer run! I think it runs for about 20 minutes on residual heat with a small pump circulating coolant. The parking heater is a separate diesel burner.
I bought mine from Listers Mercedes on Ebay, they show one at the moment item number 172981732853. Give them a call/message and double check if I am correct.

I will look at the throttle pedal removal @AMGeed mentioned, I went in blind and felt like a gynaecologist. LHD cars are a doddle, shame they didn't move it! There is a clip the valve sits in and I remember removing that for additional space, no way could I replace it so the valve is now supported by cable ties from the brake Master cylinder.
