Updating Navigation

Hello there. today i was just searching through the options/settings through out the cars navigation and stumbled on the navigation version which i have the version from 2017. my main question is there a way on i can update my navigation by my self without a dealer?

Another enquiry is the fact that my navigation is so slow, I can barley change the radio station without waiting a good 3 to 5 seconds for it to finally process. and from entering the temperature screen mode it takes a good 5-10 Seconds for it to finally pop up. with each animation taking so long. I watched some previous old videos on the navigation from 6-7 years ago and the animation were so smooth basically no delay how can this not be replicated the same for mine.

Maybe try a reset on the command , it may speed up.

For sat nav , there's a couple of sellers will send you an SD card with the update and also a key code to match your vin number . Prices are around £80 to £90 .EBAY

Depends on which Navigation system you have. If you have Audio 20, it will be the Garmin system which you can update with an SD card. If it is the full Comand, this is a dealer job,

Whichever you have, your car has the NTG5*2 system, the same as mine, and it should be much, much faster for routine tasks than you describe,

Well whilst rumenging through the center console box i did find a garmin sd card slotted in the sd spot. for the 2017 year, However if i have the NTG5.2 system how can i update it?

I don’t have the Garmin system but, as @onefortheroad says, cards are available on eBay but you have to get a genuine one for it to work properly.

Regarding NTG5*2, I was just making the point that all systems (including radio and climate control, which you specifically mention) should all work very quickly.

I am on same mission. Trying to avoid dealer and find correct update that won't screw up my system. Do advise ur eventual solution.

and don't forget downloading anything off the internet and assuming you haven't pulled down, 23 billion google advertising cookies, half of the FBI / MI6 kiddi pics and 6 Israeli hack tools customised to your local security agencies approved regional variations for abuse by countries like Nigeria, Middle East, Russia, China etc. to steal your life / money, is normal

I know people who have purchased and installed the eBay updates , they even find the software key to match your vin.

The SD card comes fully loaded as if you'd downloaded yourself from the mercedes update site . Or you can download the software yourself which I think is 26 gig to a SD card and pay mb for a licence key. The one pictured is for my car for reference only.

Personally I’m risk averse so would use https://www.commandonline.co.uk/ or main dealer.

Sometimes the dealerships can offer upgrades for a reasonable price but using an iffy update could harm your system.

You can download the update yourself from the official mercedes website , that eBay seller will sell you a working seriel number to match your vin , as will command online or mb I'd assume.

the manus rob people blind and make a killing peddling designed to fail budget junk - high end these days only means high cost A&P - and then the people at the bottom that do IT are at least as much to blame... so any new security feature is invalid the day its released, as Israel and India already sold anyone in eastern europe the workaround for the algorithm, and or tell their mates about back doors or giveaway keygens before the products are even out

Thank you for all the comments i have realised that i can just buy an sd card for the garmin system

However on the other hand the comment where i said the computer was slow well today i was watching a review of someone passing over 100,000 on their C220d saloon amg line (light work) and they said to make sure to upgrade (when it was new) to the command infotainment screen because it was faster than the base screen you get. Well as unlucky as it gets my C350e has the slow refresh rate base screen.

Now im not interested in upgrading now but the main question is can i remove the old screen (the slow base model screen) and switch it over to the better faster command screen or do i need to buy the screen and the computer for the command system?

It will mean a whole new system, not just the screen. The Comand system usually need much better cooling for a start. From memory, the guys at Comand Online used to quite around £2k for an upgrade .
