Upgrade of new windscreen?

I need to get a new windscreen due to crack & now MOT failure.
Should I demand an original or an upgrade screen as the one offered is not similar to the one fitted now. (black shading inplace of XXXXXX on top & bottom as fitted now) It is tinted
Will the insurance company accept the obvious extra charge?
Has anyone experience of this dilemma & will it really matter at the end of the day?

They will fit the same as. If you want to upgrade you will have to pay the difference.

more importantly, insist on a genuine MB-marked screen. Some cheaper replacements that are normally offereb don't always fit so well and tend to have more ripples in the glass.

The extra-cost for a tinted visor section is only about £10 or so.

I refused the screen offered & contacted my insurance company regarding an upgrade & they said no problem!
They fitted a new screen today marked with a merc star!
Fitted by Autoglass & insurance company CHURCHILL!!!

Zenith and R.A.C were less than helpful this week when I got a massive stone chip and requested an MB stamped windscreen as a replacement. but I stood my ground and they are fitting me a Mercedes Screen next week But it took more than a simple request
