upgraded headlight bulbs

Anyone tried upgrading their H7 headlight bulbs on a 2002+ E Class?
Or indeed on any current Mecedes ?

The dip lamps have a “projector” lenses, and I don’t want to risk burning/melting this. There seem to be some White Quartz Bulbs about that seems to promise the earth - for around £12 a pair

Anyone tried these – and if so, are they worth it?

Or is the standard bulb not worth changing?

You can get good, safe results using "+50" bullbs from powerbulbs.com - they are standard wattages etc so will not cause overheating.

They usually have a BOGOF so you get 2 pairs for the Halfords price of one!

There isn't a direct link between the power consumed and the light emitted.

There are plenty of good quaility bulbs available that are better than the originals, but at £12/pair I don't think you'll get much.

Osram Silvertars are pretty good, dont go for anything coloured

I agree with david that Osram Silverstars aregood as I replaced mine with just that and the difference is very noticeable
