Can anyone give me advise on repairing / replacing the seat upholstery (non leather) on a W210. There's a very small hole on the passenger seat which, although very small, looks like it may have been caused by a cigarette. This will drive me crazy as even though I'm the only person who'll notice it I ban smoking in my cars. It has the dark grey avangarde trim with flecks through it so I don't know whether this can be repaired by sewing up the hole or if you can buy the cloth just for the bit where your passengers arse goes ? (don't know the technical term) . An idea of expected costs would be great if not depressing.
Thanks in advance

Hi Glen, you cant buy the material on its own,you can buy a new seat cover for the bottom. The squab does come out can you glue something under the material.

Thanks for that Tele. Can you tell me how easy a job it is to take the "squab" out as I'd remove it and take it to a proffesional oufit for a repair. I wouldn't fancy letting the wife loose with a needle and thread on it !

I saw a seat repair performed by a smart repairer for just this sort of instance. It was about 50 quid iirc and involved glueing some synthetic fluff into the hole with a fleck colour matched to your seats. Sounds very Del boy, but the result was astounding. You could not see the repair at all.

You could try chipsaway etc, best to get a local recommendation as results can vary due to the different operators skill level.

You can buy most MB upholstery material, including MB-Tex and leather, from MAH in Germany. But it'd be expensive to buy a meter to repair a small hole

The smart repair guys are the best bet for cigarette burns

I've got round the lumbar wear on a couple of cars using a technique I've seen - you put a patch butting up to the piping with a curved edge covering the wear. If you use PVC the same colour as the piping, and it's done well, it looks very acceptable
