Urgent help needed please

I have a 1999 Mercedes C230K which I'm selling for my sister in law. Unfortunately the battery has gone completely flat and the boot lock is seized, so I can't get in to jump start the car. Some Mercs apparently have a jump point under the bonnet, but not this one of course. I've tried charging the battery using a cigar lighter adaptor on a C-Tec charger, but that doesn't work, so I'm assuming that circuit is closed when the ignition is off. I need to get the car going, and I'm wondering if I can do it by removing a bulb and attaching a battery charger to the terminals so I can use the electric boot release ? Once I'm in the boot it should be easy as I can then get jump leads onto the battery. Any ideas please, I REALLY need to get in the car today...

Thanks in advance

jump point

Hi

Put up a picture of the back right side of the engine and I will direct you to the jump point.

I can't put a pic up tonight - the car isn't at my house, it's at a friends as I don't have much parking space. I took some pics on my friends camera but when I got home my card reader won't read the memory card.....however I can't see anything that looks like a jump terminal. I tried powering the headlamp circuit by attaching a battery charger to 2 screwdrivers and touching them onto either side of the fuse but all that happens is I blow the fuse. I can't jack the car up as it's parked on grass, so I can't jump it via the starter.

You cant join to headlamps as these have a relay, the only guaranteed wire is the big one on the starter motor.

locate the fuse box under the bonnet and secure (carefully) so as not to short out a power source to a circuit or battery wire and complete the circuit ie the earth to the body or engine.

I'm with Malcolm. Jump lead to main terminal on the starter, another to an appropriate point on the chassis, flick the ignition on and pop the boot with the switch.
I assume that they only put the brass terminals on the 210 and that there isn't a square plastic box somehere under the bonnet with a red cross on it.

There isn't one on the 211 either, which I think is an appalling ommission, not just to get the car going, but to give anyone else a jump start. The battery on the 211 is a real pain to get to as it requires you to dismantle and remove 2 full size boot floor panels - not a great idea at the roadside in the rain! The 211 with it's provided connection points was great - not sure why they dropped the idea.

Has the key fob got a auto boot opener button on it?
If it has then you might look under the drivers side front .If its anything like my 1999 E210 then you will find a aluminium or plastic little cover on the drivers well with big fat wire attached from the starter.I Hooked up my battery charger directly to this immediately allowing me to use my key fob to unlock the car and pop the boot.
