Urgent help needed re CANBUS!

I have my car in for service at the moment at Mercedes. Its a CLK 320 2002 W208. I installed an Audio 30 APS about a year ago and wanted Mercedes to change the CANBUS settings so that the sat nav display comes up on the dash like the other audio information. Is this an easy job - I thought it is a simple CANBUS setting change but Mercedes are moaning saying that the car is not talking to the stereo (its definitely a CANBUS version BE4715) - please help and can anyone tell me precisely what to tell them? Thanks!

They need to fire up DAS and go into Control unit adaptations and set NAVigation to present.

Yep, i've seen it on a 2006 A class.

Expensive to fix I imagine.

Yes, the biggest problem is the the can connectors are scattered around the car and as you know are a twisted pair, the fault could be anywhere, when I fitted the digi box I checked the visible ones when the trim was out in the rear.

The problem is when the car cannot talk the the sound system, you cannot program it, ie you cant turn any options on. The Star tests set opens any options via the menu, under these conditions you cant open or access it

Does the fact that I have steering controls for the audio mean that the APS30 is on the bus okay? Where is the problem likely to be?

The fault could be anywhere, only by unplugging each connector and test each item can the fault be found,, sadly the CAN system is the car self check system, it can be a long job due to getting access the the plugs that are scattered around the car, each one can be measured and and should be 120Ω or they can be scoped
