Good day guys and girls.

I'm reaching out to identify a part and understand it's purpose.

The part come off the Auto gear selector unit on my V280 W638. It is what seems to be a bowden cable from the side of the gear selector and has a mechanical part in the other end.

It's number 23 on the diagram.

The previous owner ripped this out and left it tucked away.

Kind regards

Christian

A link? From park brake with issue, preventing a forward, reverse shift from park? And hence disconnected?

Thank you for your reply,

I have found the issue with the unit at the gear selector side, broken and missing lever. I have ordered a new one.

The problem is, where does the other end go? And I think there might be a part missing from that end as well.

Pictures of diagrams would help.

Kind regards.

Christian

Put your vin in one of the many online parts resources (partsourq for eg) and see what the part is called. Once you get the pn then google it for more info.

90% sure it goes into the EIS and stops you being able to remove the key, unless the selector is in park. Older non triptronic cars have this too.

Hi.
My W638 does not have EIS I think, it's an mechanical barell with a normal key.
