Now here is the tale! I have my battery on charge and I shut the boot lid.
I now cannot get into the boot
I have tried both keys we have that are inside the key fobs, they go in but will not turn or do anything
I have tried the small switch inside the car but this appears to be electronic as well
Is there a knack to the key? or is there another way
Cannot find anything in the haynes and the car manual is in the boot!!
Any help would be great
cheers

Tony

Open the bonnet; at the passenger side rear of the engine bay you will find the Ecu compartment under a plastic cover, in this compartment is a black plastic box about 4"x 2", the cover flips up and inside you will find two brass contacts, these are +ve contacts.
If you connect a battery using jumper leads to one of these contacts and a good earth point you will have enough power to trigger your internal locking switch and release the boot lock.
Be careful not to short your jumper leads and I would recommend you turn on your headlight switch before doing this to lessen the risk of a voltage surge.
You should not use this method if you are unsure about the position of your +ve battery lead in the boot as it may be touching earth, use a meter to check for continuity between -ve and +ve.

Yes both the pins are +ve and if the battery is on another car that's ok .If you don't have that box on your car , some don't, you can connect your +ve lead to the large terminal on your starter but make this connection first before connecting to the slave battery.

Sorry! Thought I must be missing something! :p

Do as George says, there will be plenty of points you can connect to.

PS. I managed to open a mate's old BM 520 which had a flat battery and the doors were deadlocked - even a locksmith couldn't get in - by connecting 12v to the courtesy lights in the boot. (he could unlock the boot with the key)
Don't know why I've said that, it's no use here! :)
