My children have pushed the levers up on the locking mechanism of my M Class M270 and the doors will not close because the locking mechanism of the door is locked. Does anyone know how to release the locking?

Hi,
Have you tried operating the interior handles? If you have the child proof locks on, release them then operate the interior handle.

Surely the remote will over ride it all from the outside

Thanks for all your help, the remote does not override it, but if you pull the handles open the lever opens and the doors can close.

Thanks.

I did the very same thing to the rear door of my dad's cortina when I was about 10 or so, trying to explain what I had done he did it to the front door. Left with two doors that would not close he took it to the local ford dealer for the service guy to look at as both very oddly as he just pulled the handle to release the catch. One found memory of the seventies.

I learned about vacuum locking in 1979.
Dads brand new W123 250. His pride and joy - culmination of a life long ambition to own a merc.
'Playing' around with the central locking (never had a car with this before) I was messing with the locking pin on the filler cap door and put my thumb on it as it closed. It stopped in the unlocked position so I unlocked the doors and relocked them. Nothing. Panick. I've broken my dads very expensive new car.
Dad smiled, started the engine, restored the vacuum and all was well. Phew.

Having mucked around with a door lock I knew the handle fix but its not the first time I've had to explain it to someone else. (who needed to know it in a hurry!).
