Hello all,

I urgently need to know how to switch off or disable the alarm/imobiliser on my car, it has to go for an mot tomorrow.

It is a 1995 w124 E220, with the green/red lights on the door and boot.

I went out to the car and the keyfob would do nothing, after trying new batteries in it, I went to the passeger side to unlock the car witht the key.

The alarm went off. I cant turn it off, and the car wont turn over, so the imobiliser is on.

I have tried disconnecing the battery, and reconnecting it with the ignition on and off. The car wil stil not start and the alarm still goes off.

There must be a way to reset it, or if its gone faulty, disconnect it. As Idont wont to take a 14 year old car to MB dealership.

Any ideas, or even better answers would be great.

If you have removed battery from the key fob then it needs -re synchronising ?
Make sure its working -Try holding it on for a few seconds close to the car ?
Is it a MB alarm / imm system or after market ?--search on the net if so there are websites that will show you how to resett it .

I have checked the remote and it does have a signal.
However it may still need re syncronising.
The problem is, on the page by television, I dont have the listed part numbers
Mine is 202 820 09 26
the box on the other side with the pump is 124 820 59 26

If the car cannot be locked or unlocked the system must be synchronized.

Point window in remote key at a receiver.

Press the remote button momentarily.

Cars as of 01-94 with control modules 202 820 40 26 and 202 820 43 26. Switch on ignition with folding key within next 30 seconds.

This should be yours

OK, it works.

I did no syncronisation. I disconnected the car battery for 30 mins. reconnected it.
When I pointed the remote at the car (to do the syncronisation) it just worked, flashed red, and locked the doors. Didnt put it in the ignition at all. Pressed it again and green light doors unlocked.

I can only guess that new batteries in the remote, and disconnnecting the car battery reset both to a base starting code?

Thanks to all of you who posted, I am so relieved that I can know take it for its new tyres and MOT tomorrow. I MUST get a new key from the dealers, it was only good fortune that it stopped working when the car was at home, if it had happened anywhere else it would have been a nightmare.
I just hope a new key isnt too much.

It will be around £200 only from MB dealer. You will need to take V5, passport or driving licence, and proof of address.

I do have a spare remote, but it was not originally for my car, so it does not syncronise.
Can MB add it to the system, that way I dont have to buy a remote and it might be cheaper.

Cannot be done, but handy for some parts, are you sure that it is not just faulty

No its definately for another car, I am going to use it for spares.
Oh, the car passed the mot agin with nothing needed, and a co reading of 0%! at idle and 0.06% at 3000 rpm. Its not doing to bad for a 14 year old car, 101k on the clock.
