I am looking for a user guide/manual for a 1983 280E, any ideas please? I haven't yet managed to figure out how some things work and a guide would assist.

When I had my previous 1986 190E the original hand book was missing, I bought a replacement from the local stealership for less than a fiver. It proved a mine of useful information.
I'm guessing your 1983 280E is the last of the W123 models? as the first set of W124's ran 200, 230E, 260E & 300E. Have you tried the dealer, I don't know whether they would still keep the handbooks? Otherwise, I guess ebay might have something.

there is a haynes manual specific for your car-costs about 15 pounds from halfords or similar-this is a useful source of info-especially when it comes to repairs etc.
otherwise the owners manual is available from the the stealership for about a fiver.
