v220 starting problem.

im having quite an annoying intermittent problem starting my mb.

for some reason i have to get out and rock the car backwards and forwards when its in park before it will fire up. all the dash lights come on and it starts no probs after rocking it.

any help or suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

What happens to the car, when it wont start, is is cranking and not firing or does it not spin over at all?

Certainly sounds like a loose connection somewhwere.. possible ignition fault if the dash lights arent lighting up, other things to check... crankcase sensor would cause errant starting.. have u checked the battery connections..they may be tight but not making a good electrical connection..

it dosent crank at all. other than that all of the electrical systems seem to work fine.

I would say a possible sticking starter solinoid or igition switch.

In stead of rocking the car, give the starter motor itself a tap with a piece of wood of some thing like that, or measure the voltage at the starter when in the crank position.
